Hi, I’m Jessica. I’m an English tutor, and in today’s lesson, we’re going to talk about English slang.

And the word for today is “zonked.”

Okay, that’s a really weird word! Yep, it’s zonked. So, what exactly does zonked mean?

The word zonked is used to describe when somebody is really tired.

So let’s say you were out until 3 in the morning. You may say, “Oh my gosh, I’m so zonked today.”

You may be saying, “I’m really really tired. I had a great time last night, but I am so zonked.”

It doesn’t just mean you were out having a great time with your friends.

You could be a new mom and your baby kept you awake until 5am, you know, maybe they’re teething; and you would say,

“I’m so zonked! Sally did not let me sleep at all last night. She was so fussy.

All she wanted to do was have me rock her in the chair.

All right, so the English slang term then is zonked – a word to describe feeling really tired.
