Hi, my name is Jessica. I’m an English tutor.
And in today’s lesson we’re going to talk about the phrasal verb “Narrow Down.”
Now what exactly does “Narrow Down” mean?
This has to do with reducing the number of options that you may have listed.
For example, let’s say you are looking at three different houses.
You’re trying to decide which house you are going to purchase.
You may need to narrow down the list between two to decide on the correct one.
So that would be to reduce the number of things.
Another example would be if you are going on vacation.
Let’s say you have a number of different cities that you would like to go to, but you only have time to go to three.
Let’s say you’re visiting the state of Texas and you’d like to visit: Dallas, Huston, San Antonio and
Austin.
You may have to narrow down that list and only visit Austin and San Antonio because they’re closer by.
So again, narrowing down has to do with reducing the amount of things
that you are going to do or reducing the number of options.
I hope this lesson has cleared up any confusion that you may have had about the phrasal verb “Narrow Down.”
