These words are a bit confusing for a lot of English students.
So, I am going to help you understand how they are different.
Also show you how to pronounce them correctly.
So, let’s get started.
Number one: We have “corp.”
This is something that’s short for the word corporation.
You know, from the business world the corporation is the type of company.
So, C-O-R-P, now we pronounce it. Just the way it’s written “corp,” “corp.”
Okay, so nothing strange there, it’s pretty easy.
Now, we’re going to move on to number two.
This is what confuses a lot of students, so number two:
C-O-R-P-S this refers to a division or a group of people working together.
This term is used most often in the context of the military or the army.
And although it does have a “p” and an “s”.
They are silent as we pronounce this word.
It’s pronounced “cor.”
You can just forget about the “p” and the “s”, when you’re pronouncing the word.
Just say “cor,” “cor.”
